This is the second major project that I have used Riser & Sons Radiant Heating. In each project over 10,000 square feet of radiant heating were installed in gypcrete. David’s level of knowledge and craftsmanship are unparalleled. All work is done in an organized and neat manner using nothing but the best materials. David takes no shortcuts, his priority is that the job is done thoroughly and correctly no matter what it takes. I would not trust my radiant heating to anyone else.

I’ve worked in the building industry for over twenty years. I’ve worked with Riser & Sons on several occasions for the design and installation of both radiant heating systems as well as traditional forced hot air systems in residential homes and commercial properties with outstanding results. The level of detail that Riser & Sons puts into a job is extraordinary from analyzing the existing structure, factoring in heat loss from windows, to using the finest materials. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail are exceptional to ensure not only a functional system but an efficient one. I will continue to look at Riser & Sons to work on future heating needs.

In 2009, the Basking Ridge Fire Co. began seeking a solution to address reliability issues with its aging heating system coupled with rising operating costs. The original equipment was approaching 30 years of service. In addition to inefficient and out-of-date equipment often failing and needing repair at the most inopportune times, the lack of controls and programming options for the facility contributed to higher operating costs.Given the size and expense for such a project, company representatives sought proposals from various reputable firms in the area, but it was clear from the start that Riser and Sons was the right firm for the job. David Riser “sized up our project correctly from the first conversation,” said Richard Moschello, Executive Committeeperson. “He knew our situation; we’re a longstanding, emergency services organization with deep roots in the community and no plans to relocate, but he understood we needed to refresh our heating infrastructure in a cost-effective manner using high-quality, low-maintenance heating devices and operating methods.”
Riser and Sons offered several options for new boiler equipment – each with significantly different cost as well their own as pros and cons. Options ranging from a traditional 80% gas-fired boiler, essentially a newer version of the equipment that had reached end of life, to state-of-the-art, 95% efficient Viessman Vitodens condensing boilers. Additionally, a turnkey solution for automation and controls for any of the new boiler options was provided, using Tekmar devices.
Representatives from the fire company compared all options and ultimately selected the high efficient Viessman option with the Tekmar controls. Now operating into our fifth winter, the company could not be happier with the results. The installation by Riser and Sons was impeccable and devices have operated flawlessly. Moreover, with the new configuration, annual operating costs have dropped by close to 40%.
David (Riser) was onsite and hands-on for the entire renovation, start to finish, and the pride in and quality of his workmanship shows in the final results,” continued Moschello. “Since that initial project, the fire company has continued to make improvements to other aging equipment (e.g., air conditioning) and there has been no debate on whom we call on to deliver a solution: Riser and Sons.”
